How Major League Pickleball works: teams, four games and the DreamBreaker
Short answer: Major League Pickleball is a coed team league. In 2026 it had 20 hometown teams. Every match has four games (women's doubles, men's doubles and two mixed doubles). If teams are tied, a singles DreamBreaker decides it.

This is from MLP's own "ABCs of MLP" page, describing the 2026 season.
Format
MLP (presented by DoorDash) says it has over 100 of the top-ranked professionals and 20 teams competing for standings points to reach the playoffs. Teams play under MLPlay rules. Doubles games use side-out scoring to 11, win by at least two. The DreamBreaker is played under rally scoring to 21, with players switching every four points.
Season
The 2026 calendar had 13 events: nine regular-season events, the mid-season tournament and three playoff weekends. About 11 teams played each regular-season event, in groups, with round robin Thursday to Saturday and head-to-head matches on Sunday that earned standings points.
Playoffs
The top 12 teams qualified and were seeded by points. Seeds 1-4 got first-round byes and began at the quarterfinals in Newport Beach, while seeds 5-12 played the first round in Dallas.
