Where amateur pickleball money is going: LT Classic series, Malaysia's Paramount Cup and India's CCPL season 2

Short answer: Life Time is turning its LT Classic into a four-stop series with more than $20,000 in prize money, the Paramount Cup in Subang Jaya (October 22-25) has an RM113,760 pool and players from 18 countries, and India's CCPL Hyderabad doubled each franchise purse to 10 lakh rupees for season two.

Three announcements from the past two weeks show organizers trying to give everyday players something that looks like the pro game: a club chain turning its amateur tournament into a series with cash prizes, a Malaysian open with players from 18 countries, and an Indian franchise league that has doubled its team budgets. They are different formats in different countries, and each says something about where tournament money is going. Figures below come from the organizers' own releases and local press, and we say so where it matters.

Life Time turns the LT Classic into a quarterly series

On October 13, Life Time announced that its LT Classic amateur tournament will become a quarterly series, with the first event at Life Time Rancho San Clemente, California on October 16. The company said each host club will have its own prize pool, with cash payouts in every division, top prizes of $2,000 or more, and more than $20,000 in prize money across divisions. Premium JOOLA paddles and other sponsor prizes are also offered.

The announced 2026 schedule is: - Orange County Fall Classic, Life Time Rancho San Clemente, October 16-18 - Atlanta Fall Classic, Life Time Peachtree Corners, Georgia, October 21-25 - Chicago Fall Classic, Life Time North Shore Sport & Racquet, Northbrook, Illinois, November 13-15 - Minneapolis Fall Classic, Life Time Lakeville, Minnesota, November 13-15

Life Time says it runs more than 960 permanent pickleball courts, and that its LT Pro 48 ball is the official ball of the PPA Tour (since 2025) and Major League Pickleball (since 2026). The venues are described as homes to PPA Pro and Challenger events, under the tagline "Play where the pros play." Note the release is a company announcement, and it says the prize money is "more than $20,000" in total across divisions, which spread over four events is modest. The point is less the size of the purse than that a major operator is packaging amateur competition as a repeatable product.

Paramount Cup: 18 countries and a ringgit prize pool in Subang Jaya

The Paramount Cup 2026 runs October 22 to 25 at PLAYA Racquet Club in PARC Subang, Subang Jaya, Selangor, according to Pickle361. Organizers say players from 18 countries are entered and that the cash prize pool is RM113,760. Registration runs through Sports Sync with a linked DUPR account.

The categories go beyond the open field. Open divisions include men's singles, men's, women's and mixed doubles, and 35+ and 45+ events. There are also rated brackets: high intermediate (DUPR under 4.2), intermediate (under 3.5) and novice (under 2.8), plus junior events. The listed prizes show how the money is spread. Open doubles pays RM5,000 for first place, RM2,500 for second and RM1,200 for third. Novice doubles pays RM1,500 for first. Junior singles pays RM250 for first. Pickle361 notes the Sports Sync listing shows limited slots in some categories, including 56 in men's singles open and eight in under-16 boys' doubles.

The tournament also profiled a Malaysian player, Muiz Aziz, who the organizers say played competitive tennis from age 10 and took up pickleball in 2025. That fits a pattern in both Southeast Asia and India: players with racquet-sport backgrounds are driving the early competitive field.

India's franchise model: Hyderabad season two

The Centre Court Pickleball League (CCPL) began its second Hyderabad season on October 18 with eight franchises, the Deccan Chronicle reported on October 16. The league has seven league match days, with the playoffs on December 5 and the final on December 12. Between October 24 and November 28 matches are scheduled on weekly match days, at 4 PM and 8 PM.

The field is 80 players, 53 men and 27 women, picked from more than 200 registrants. Seventy-three were bought at a player auction in Phuket in September and seven were pre-auction signings. Each franchise's purse doubled from 5 lakh to 10 lakh rupees, and teams could sign one player before the auction for 3 lakh. Defending champion Mavericks, who beat All Stars 4-3 in a seventh-set tiebreaker last season, are led by Sreekar Mothukuri. Nearly 2,000 people watched the season-one final, the league said.

Ownership is a draw in itself. The report says Olympic bronze medallist Saina Nehwal is a co-owner of Keerthi Warriors, former badminton world No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth is an investor in Nandi Chargers, and actor Sushanth Anumolu owns All Stars. Title sponsor is Terminus, with additional sponsors listed. Co-founder Vikrant Rao said the bigger purse "gave franchises more room to build their squads."

What the three have in common

None of the three is a pro tour in the PPA or MLP sense, and none claims to be. They share a design: split the field by level so more people have a real shot at a prize, attach a visible sponsor, and add a reason to show up that is not only the matches. Life Time uses its network of clubs, the Paramount Cup uses an international field and DUPR ratings, and CCPL uses franchise ownership and match-day entertainment. How much of this lasts depends on whether the prize money and sponsor interest hold after the novelty. The CCPL's doubled purses and Life Time's move to a series are early signs that, for now, organizers are betting on more.
