7 European Cities Where Pickleball Is Taking Off in 2026
The essentials: From London's 192 courts to dedicated clubs in Paris, Berlin and a three-city network on the Croatian coast, here is where a travelling player can reliably find a game in Europe in 2026, with sources checked 23 October 2026.

Pickleball's European footprint is small next to North America's, but it is growing, and it is growing unevenly. The European Pickleball Federation now lists 12 full member countries, including England, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Poland and Spain. In the UK alone, an estimated 200,000 people played regularly by early 2026, according to RacketRise, a UK statistics page that aggregates governing-body and venue-operator data. Below are seven cities where a travelling player, or a new local, can reliably find a game right now, with what each scene actually looks like on the ground.
London
London has the deepest court supply in Britain: 192 courts across 33 boroughs as of May 2026, according to Pickleball One's London guide, which says it phoned each venue it lists. Even so, that works out to only 2.2 courts per 100,000 residents, and the guide warns that demand regularly outstrips supply, so booking ahead matters.
The anchor venue is Park Sports Chiswick in west London: six dedicated courts in a converted industrial space, open seven days a week, with drop-in open play at £10 for 90 minutes and court hire at £24 an hour, per the same guide. Kensington Pickleball Club runs four courts with a structured coaching pathway. The Better leisure-centre chain adds cheap entry points across the capital: Sobell Leisure Centre runs two courts at £6 drop-in on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Highbury Pool and Fitness puts down six courts on Wednesday nights at £6, and Britannia Leisure Centre runs three courts on Tuesdays and Saturdays at £6. Prices are as listed in the August 2026 guide and can change.
Paris
Paris has something most European capitals do not: a dedicated pickleball club with two venues. Le Pickleball Club operates six indoor courts at the Paris Event Center in the 19th arrondissement, open seven days a week according to the club, and six more at Porte de Versailles in the 15th, where sessions start at about €8.50, according to Paddle Pals Paris, a community guide updated for 2026.
The same guide lists Centre Sportif Croix Nivert (three indoor courts), Tennis Club du Jardin du Luxembourg (two outdoor courts at about €12 per person), 4PADEL Paris 20 at Porte de Montreuil (three outdoor courts at about €12 an hour) and Tennis Club d'Ivry just outside the city (six indoor courts, about €10 a session). The guide stresses that prices and hours change often, so check the venue page before travelling.
Madrid
Madrid is the centre of the Spanish scene, and the Asociación Española de Pickleball maintains a where-to-play list for the city. It includes several municipal sports centres (Centros Deportivos Municipales) offering pickleball, among them CDM Fernando Martín in Hortaleza, CDM Plata y Castañar in Villaverde and CDM Raúl González in Benimamet. The municipal-centre model keeps costs low, though sessions run on the centres' own schedules rather than as dedicated pickleball clubs.
Amsterdam
Amsterdam has one of the older organised scenes on the continent. Pickleball Holland, the national organisation, lists weekly sessions across multiple Amsterdam venues, including Sunday late-afternoon play, Wednesday and Thursday evening sessions and Saturday afternoon slots, and advises checking with each club before turning up. Amsterdam Racket Club also lists pickleball among its racket sports. The scene is club-night based rather than dedicated-venue based: you play at scheduled sessions in shared sports halls.
Berlin
Berlin has the largest and densest pickleball scene in Germany, according to Pickleball Guide's 2026 city overview. The dedicated option is PBC Center in Mariendorf: six indoor courts in a combined padel and pickleball centre that also hosts tournaments. Beyond it, the guide lists established clubs affiliated with the Deutscher Pickleball Verband, including TSC Spandau, TSV Spandau 1860 and BTV Olympia, running open-play and training sessions across the city, indoor and outdoor, year-round.
Stockholm
Stockholm is a book-ahead city. Frescati Sports Center, near the university, rents pickleball play on its badminton courts Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 17:00 and on weekend mornings, with a larger five-court hall (Innebandy B) bookable at other times, according to the venue's own page. Play is limited to four players per court, and the centre offers semester-long contracted slots for regulars. It is a rental model rather than a club model: you bring your own group.
Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnik
Croatia's three-city network is the newest thing on this list. Pickleball Club 002 opened four dedicated courts beside the Sava in Zagreb in the summer of 2024, followed it with 12 dedicated courts at Stobreč, just outside Split and about 100 metres from the Adriatic, in 2025, and added six dedicated courts on Babin Kuk in Dubrovnik in August 2026, according to World Pickleball Magazine. The Dubrovnik location deliberately overlaps with Croatia's tourism corridor, making it the easiest place in Europe to combine a beach holiday with organised play.
How to choose
For sheer volume and competitive depth, London is the safest bet, though its courts are also the most oversubscribed relative to population. Paris offers the closest thing to a North American-style dedicated club. Berlin and Madrid reward players who want established club communities, Amsterdam suits drop-in social play, Stockholm suits groups who prefer to rent by the hour, and Croatia suits anyone building a trip around the coast. Wherever you land, the pattern across all seven is the same: book ahead, because European supply is still catching up with demand.
